Demanovska Ice Cave is one of the most attractive and popular places. It is located to the right of Demanovska valley and below Low Tatras slopes.

Demanovska Ice Cave was famous during the Middle Age. It is the second cave of this type and size in Slovakia. It was mentioned for the first time in 1299.

The ice coverage of the cave was formed about 400-500 years ago. The bones of the cave bear were found there. Those bones were considered to be dragon’s bones. This is why the cave received the name of Dragon cave. 10 species of bats live here. IN the lower part of the cave you can admire ice allusions and waterfalls.

Demanovska Ice Cave

The cave is located approximately 10 kilometers from Liprovski Mikulas in the Low Tatras to the right of Demanovska valley and in several kilometers from the famous Jasna ski resort. The entrance area is 90 meters above the bottom of the valley. It can be seen from the parking. To reach the entrance area, you need to take a serpentine road. A forest road encircles the cave. There are two recreation areas there. The penetration to the cave takes around 20 minutes.

General information

The cave examination takes 45 minutes approximately and the whole length of the route is 650 meters. The temperature inside varies from 0.4 to 3 degrees.

The season starts on May 15 and ends on September 30.

Working hours: Tuesday-Sunday from 9.00 to 17.00, Monday is a day off

Entrance hours: 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00

Cost: 8,00 EUR for adults, 4,00 EUR children between 6 and 15 years old, 7,00 EUR students, and retirees. Cards are not allowed.
