Dobsinska Ice Cave is one of the biggest ice caves in the world. The thickness of ice reaches 25 meters in some areas. This is one of the most important caves in the world and it was included in the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO.
The cave is located in the South West of the National Park Slovak Raj. The entrance is at 969 meters height. You can enter the cave from Dobsinska village.
It is interesting:
- Skating was allowed in the cave before 1946.
- This cave was the first electrified cave in Europe (since 1887).
The cave examination takes around 30 minutes and the path is 515 meters. The temperature varies from -3.9 to -0.3 degrees.
