Slovak National Gallery

Renaissance Esterhazy palace and water barracks building are located in the center of Bratislava and attract visitors’ attention. The amateurs of art can find pictures, ancient frescos, graphics, models monument of national architecture, splendid pieces od baroque, gothic and modern sculpture in this museum.

The idea of the gallery belongs to Ladislav Novomesky. In 1949 poet, publicist, and politician has decided to gather pieces of art of national artists. Later it was decided to add foreign artists to the collection.

National Slovak Gallery has branches across Slovakia. The works of modern artists and classic pieces of art can be also seen in Zvolen castle, Strazki, Ruzomberok, and Pezinok.

Working hours: Tuesday-Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00, Wednesday from 12.00 to 20.00.

Cost: free (until the end of reconstruction).
